Alan Banks on WSOC-TV
People are buying brand new homes at a rate like we haven’t seen in a long time. A lot of families who have found out now is the time to buy a new home! At Evans Coghill, we are seeing the same thing. We have been able to help twice as many families move into a brand new home this year over last year. Thank you for the opportunity!
Last week, WSOC-TV came to talk to our own Alan Banks about what is going on. He has a unique perspective on the market because of his role as the Home Builders Association of Charlotte president. Link to video is here.
Parade of Homes Starts This Week
The 2013 Parade Charlotte will begin on April 12th and run every Friday through Sunday, through April 28th. Hours are Friday-Saturday 11am-6pm and Sunday 1pm-6pm. This year’s event will showcase new homes for sale, fully decorated model homes to tour, and communities available for building your dream home. Additionally, ‘On the Board’ homes are showcased. These homes are new designs just started and available to preview for more information.
Admission will continue to be free. Visit here to plan your route and print a map to all the great communities you would like to visit.
Two of our homes have been selected to be in the Parade this year. We are proud to show our Landsford model home plan in Riverwalk and our Bellinger home plan in Baxter Village. The Bellinger is available for sale at $619,000 and is ready for move in. It features 5 bedrooms, office space, great living spaces and large yard. It would be a good home if you have a relative who visits often as their is a guest suite on the main level.
The Landsford is a brand new home plan in a brand new neighborhood. This home features a master bedroom on the main level, a fun back porch, two more bedrooms upstairs. Look for the storage under the stairs when you visit. I know you will love it!

We Love Gen Y at Riverwalk
If you were born after 1982 and before 2001, you are in Generation Y and your friends are buying their first homes. Are you?
Times are changing and the kids are moving out. We have learned that Gen Y doesn’t want the same house as their parents (no surprise here, huh?). They want a cleaner, simpler decor, more value and outdoor living space.
USA Today recently reported about this. Gen Y is in the Mood to Buy (Houses). See if you agree. See you at Riverwalk.
R.I.P. Owner’s Suite Bath Tub
There is a growing debate about continuing to include bath tubs in the master bath. Some believe you need it for resale. Others want a larger spa shower instead. Still others are unsure they want to break with the momentum of the trend of including it.
There is not a clear direction in the home building industry at this point. Our own market research is overwhelmingly showing Evans Coghill’s home owners prefer to bury the tub and expand the shower. Most of the new homes we have started recently do not have a tub in the master suite and either include a larger spa shower or have given the space over to another use.
What do you think? At Evans Coghill Homes, you can have it either way you want it.
Which would you rather have? Spa shower or a standard shower and a garden tub? Most home buyers seem to be dropping the tub.
